The immediate purpose of the Legal Reform Watch is the creation of a complete archive of the most important documents on the Bulgarian justice sector and educating the public on it. It is our hope that in doing that LRW will become an instrument for furthering one general cause: sustaining and increasing the impetus for reforms in Bulgaria. The particular ways by which we hope to contribute to that cause are by: - bringing more empowered by better knowledge stakeholders to the reform process as we help to further open the policy dialogue on justice reforms to the non-specialized media and the wider public; - promoting the use of statistic and socio-metric instruments (sociological surveys, economic analysis, comprehensive budgetary accountability, regulatory impact analyses etc.) for a more efficient administration of the justice system and a better informed regulative process, by making available an up-to-date database of statistical data permitting a in-depth analysis of the status of the Bulgarian justice; - bringing additional problems of the Bulgarian judiciary to light and providing informed discussion of more possible solutions - putting the reform debate in a wider international, theoretical and historical context; - shedding additional light on the contribution of the various institutions, donors, organizations and actors in the reform process and promoting a better understanding of the impact of the different forms of technical assistance An important complimentary goal is to provide access to the international experts, academics, donors and institutions, as well as to the other countries implementing reforms, to the Bulgarian experience. We believe that taking in consideration the lessons from the reforms in Bulgaria would help the international donors and institutions to formulate more adequately their future goals and the means of their attainment. In doing that we hope to contribute for Bulgaria's becoming a factor for the Rule of Law promotion in the region of the South-East Europe and Black See.
